Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway
Winter Writers' Conference
Thousands of people have enjoyed the Winter Getaway over the
past 17 years, developing their craft as writers and making
lifelong friends. The focus isn't on the award-winning faculty,
it's on helping poets and writers improve and advance their
skills. This annual conference for writers, artists & teachers, led by Founder/Director Peter E.
Murphy, will take place in Cape May, NJ, January
14-17, 2011. It will offer 17 hours of professional development
credit and optional graduate credit from Rutgers
University-Camden.
Registration will open in May 2010.

The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation
Programs for Teachers & Students
Free programs for New Jersey teachers & students, including the
annual Clearing the Spring, Tending the Fountain sessions and
the biennial Dodge Poetry Festival. Dodge also funds NJ
teacher/artists accepted to the Fine Arts Work Center in
Provincetown, MA, the Vermont Studio Center and other summer
programs.

New Jersey Council for the Humanities
Summer Teacher Institutes
Four one week seminars for K-12 teachers on topics such as: The
20th Century and the African American Experience, Washington and
Lincoln: Presidents and Slavery, Coming of Age Literature and more. Seminars are held at
The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and a $100 fee pays for tuition, room, board, books
& field trips. Complete a mini paper and receive a $250 stipend.
Professional development credits will be awarded & graduate
credit is available for an extra fee and a more intensive paper.
Deadline: Rolling admissions until June 1. Founder/Director Peter E.
Murphy returns as a Master Teacher for two of this year's
Institutes.

National Endowment for the Humanities
Summer Seminars & Institutes for Teachers
Choose from Chinese art, classical opera, Shakespeare, Arabic
Novels, African American Folklore and more to study with
scholars at universities throughout the US, Europe & Asia.
Seminars are free and you will receive a stipend up to $4,500
depending on the length of the program which ranges from 2 to 6
weeks.
